REAL POWER: MAXING OUT ON GOD'S LOVE |
NO ONE CAN FORCE YOU
TO BE AFRAID
Fear doesn’t float around in outer
space and suddenly drop like a meteor into your mind. There are no
fear factories that manufacture it, and stores that sell it. No
matter where you go, you will never find a single molecule of fear
anywhere in the universe. Nothing in the outside world can make you
afraid. Only you can make it happen.
Fear is the result of how you run
your mind. Plenty of bad things will happen to you in your lifetime.
You must decide whether you will think fearful thoughts about those
bad things. It’s your choice. No one can force you to be afraid. No
one is going to drive a dump truck of fear up to your mind and dump it
in. Your mind is your own domain. If it’s full of fearful thoughts,
it’s because you put them there, and you are the only one who can make
them go away.
Nothing is more effective in breaking
the back of fear than positive action coupled with the power of God’s
love. When positive action and God’s love come in the front door,
fearful thoughts head for the emergency exit. Positive action always
drives fear from your mind. When fear pokes up its ugly head, you
must decapitate it with positive action.
In medical school, I spent six months
training in the specialty of anesthesia. Before the start of a
surgical procedure, I gave my patients a muscle blocker to paralyze
them so I could put a tube in their airway and breathe for them during
surgery. When the operation was over, I gave them a different
medication to reverse the effects of the muscle blocker. I injected
the drug intravenously, and the patient’s paralysis disappeared in
just a few seconds.
Love is the antidote for fear and
interacts with fear in a similar manner. Fear is an extremely
powerful agent that paralyzes you and keeps you from moving in the
direction of your dreams. As long as you are under the influence of
fear, you stay right where you are. When you open your heart and mind
to God’s love, fear no longer paralyzes you and controls your life.
God made your heart and mind so there
isn’t enough room for both love and fear at the same time. If your
heart is full of love, there is no room for fear. Since God’s love is
the most powerful force in the universe, there is no contest when love
and fear compete for space. Fear is sent into exile as long as you
keep your heart and mind focused on the power of God’s love.
If you are having a problem with
fear, you need to refocus your mind on God’s love. The Bible says
that perfect love casts out fear. You need to remember that God is
your Father and you are his child. Nothing in the entire universe can
separate you from his love. Let the sunshine of God’s love melt the
icy grip that fear has on your life.
FEAR AND FAITH
Several of Jesus’ disciples were
fishermen, and occasionally Jesus used their boats to travel to his
next destination. One evening they were crossing the Sea of Galilee
with Jesus asleep in the stern of the boat. While they were underway,
a fierce squall arose, and the wind and waves threatened to overwhelm
their boat. They were taking on water as each new wave washed over
them, and it was only a matter of time before they would sink if the
situation didn’t rapidly improve. This was a true emergency; these
fishermen were not over-reacting when they thought they might die
during this storm. Everyone who has been in a storm at sea knows
exactly how they felt.
Jesus slept through the storm until
the fishermen woke him up and said, “Teacher, don’t you care if we
drown?” Jesus rebuked the wind and waves, and the storm immediately
subsided. Then Jesus said, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have
no faith?”
Why wasn’t Jesus afraid? Jesus knew
that he didn’t come into this world to drown in the Sea of Galilee.
Jesus was following God’s plan, and death by drowning definitely
wasn’t in the plan. Jesus had such close fellowship with God that he
knew God’s plan by heart from start to finish. Jesus knew he had
nothing to fear from a storm at sea.
The disciples didn’t know that God
wouldn’t allow them to perish in the storm. They didn’t understand
God’s plan, and their hearts were full of fear. The same thing
happens with us. Without a close personal relationship with God, we
don’t understand his plan, and our hearts are full of fear. When our
fellowship with the Father becomes up close and personal, for the
first time we understand his plan, and we put our faith in it. We
know that if we follow his plan, nothing can happen to us until the
plan has run its full course. Once we have faith in his plan, we no
longer have any reason for fear.
Jesus made it clear that fear has no
place in the heart of the child of God. When you have a personal
relationship with God based on love and follow God’s plan, you have
nothing to fear.
REGRETS – DON’T STEP IN THEM
When your heart is full of God’s
love, you have few regrets. The ghost of what could have been never
haunts you in old age.
People who listen to the voice of
fear end up with tons of regrets. At the end of their life, they look
at everything that could have been, and they realize that fear stole
their best dreams and left them with a pile of regrets.
Fear is the biggest dream stealer
stalking planet earth. Fearosaurus Rex terrorizes the Life Long
Disoriented who live in the Land of Fear. The Life Long Disoriented
feed their dreams to this predator countless times each day.
Fearosaurus Rex grows stronger and their dreams quickly disappear. He
digests their dreams and eliminates them, leaving little piles of
regrets on the landscape of their life. Regrets are the only residues
left from all those dreams. You must watch where you walk in the Land
of Fear because there are so many regrets you can step in.
People who live in the Land of
Possibility walk wherever they want, because there are no unpleasant
piles of regrets littering the landscape. Fearosaurus Rex never
visits the Land of Possibility. He doesn’t go there because no one
will feed him their dreams. Pickings are easier in the Land of Fear
where the Life Long Disoriented hand over their dreams on a silver
platter, and Fearosaurus Rex grows fat without a fight. He has no
need to travel to the Land of Possibility where every bite would be a
fight, and he would go home hungry.
Don’t let Fearosaurus Rex steal your
dreams and devour God’s plan for your life. Don’t let him bully you
and make your life into a nightmare. Don’t let him make piles of
regrets on the landscape of your life.
Take action. Open your heart to
God’s love and let it flood your heart and mind. Send Fearosaurus Rex
into extinction. You have nothing to lose except fear, and you have
everything to gain. Discover how good your life can be when God’s
love drives fear from your life.
Affirmation:
Fearosaurus Rex never visits me in
the Land of Possibility. He never comes here because I won’t feed him
my dreams. Pickings are easier in the Land of Fear where the Life
Long Disoriented hand over their dreams on a silver platter, and
Fearosaurus Rex grows fat without a fight. He doesn’t want to pay me
a visit because he won’t get near my dreams. Instead of a bite, he
will get a fight, and he will go home hungry. I won’t let Fearosaurus
Rex steal my dreams or devour God’s plan for my life. I will send
Fearosaurus Rex into extinction with the power of God’s love.
